Amsterdam, the Netherlands --Tercel Oilfield Products has unveiled its PDC drillbit MicroCORE cutting system, designed to redistribute high energy consumption from the center of the drill bit to more efficient areas of the cutting structure.

The company developed the system in collaboration with Total.

MicroCORE, Tercel claims, replaces the compression failure mechanism in the center of a traditional cutting structure, delivering more energy to the cutters, allowing much higher rate of penetration (ROP) to be attained, with reportedly better quality wellbores.

Tercel CEO Hossam Elbadawyadded that the system “allows our clients to… recover core fragments from the well that are undisturbed by the shearing action of the cutters, providing excellent samples for core analysis on site or in the lab.”
