EDINBURGH, UK Thistle Wind Partners (TWP) awarded Ramboll a contract in late March to perform the pre-FEED for the foundations for its 1-GW Bowdun offshore wind farm in the UK northern North Sea.

The design scope includes the substructure for the wind turbine generators, comprising a base case jacket concept for water depths of up to 70 m.

In addition, Ramboll will undertake various geotechnical sensitivity assessments to advise on the future development of the wind farm, and devise offshore substation foundation concepts both for Bowdun and TWP’s 1-GW Ayre wind farm offshore Orkney, northern Scotland.

The program will help TWP, a consortium involving DEME, Qair, and Aspiravi, establish a full design envelope for the projects and help determine the fabrication, transport and installation requirements at a later phase.

Following completion of this work, FEED and detailed design procurement should get underway in spring 2025.

COWI is working in pre-FEED studies for the onshore and offshore electrical and civil designs for both projects.
