DUBLIN, Ireland – Polarcus MC has started 3D seismic surveying operations for Providence Resources over the Drombeg oil exploration prospect offshore southwest Ireland.

Drombeg is in frontier exploration license (FEL) 2/14 in the Porcupine basin. Providence describes it as a significant Lower Cretaceous stratigraphic amplitude/AVO-supported target.

The location is 220 km (137 mi) off the west coast in around 2,500 m (8,202 ft) of water.

Providence has agreed to license roughly 1,100 sq km (425 sq mi) of 3D data. In total Polarcus is acquiring 4,300 sq km (1,660 sq mi) under themulti-client survey, one of the largest to date offshore Ireland, using the M/V Polarcus Amani.
