Eurasia unveils latest Caspian jackup

ASTRAKHAN, Russia – Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov has named the new Eurasia Drilling Co. jackup Neptune at a ceremony in Astrakhan.

The rig is designed to drill wells in the Caspian Sea with a measured depth of up to 9,000 m (29,527 ft) and in water depths from 4.8-105 m (15.7-344 ft).

Lukoil plans to lease the rig for exploration drilling in its licensed areas.

The company has placed other offshore orders with various shipbuilding groups in Astrakhan for construction of an ice-resistant stationary platform, a living-quarters platform, a central processing platform, and a riser block, all for theVladimir Filanovsky field development in the Russian sector. Production is scheduled to start by end-2015.
