MOSCOW – LUKOIL has started transportation of two supporting blocks for the ice-resistant stationary platform (IRP-1) at the Vladimir Filanovsky field in the Caspian Sea.
Total weight of the blocks is around 5,000 tons. Each is 28.3 m (93 ft) long, 23.7 m (78 ft) wide and 16.4 m (54 ft) high.
They will be fixed to the seabed via 20 piles, each more than 2 m (6.5 ft) in diameter, with a total weight of more than 4,000 tons. The piles will be driven in to a depth of 60 m (197 ft), to ensure secure mounting of the platform so that it can withstand extreme ice action and wave slamming. The supporting blocks will be fixed at a depth of 7 m (23 ft).
This summer, LUKOIL also plans to assemble the supporting blocks for the living quarters and central processing platforms and for the riser block. Next year, topside sections will be assembled on the supporting blocks.
