NPD authorizes production, exploration wells offshore Norway

Statoil has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill and complete a new production well on the Troll field in the North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Statoil has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) to drill and complete a new production well on the Troll field in the North Sea.

The semisubmersibleSonga Encourage will drill well 31/2-O-24 through a template tied back to Troll C via a subsea pipeline. Water depth at the site is 338 m (1,109 ft). The program should last 71 days.

Lundin has NPD’s consent to drill an exploration well on the Alta prospect in block 7220 in theBarents Sea.

The semisubmersibleLeiv Eirikssonwill start drilling well 7220/11-4 in 402 m (1,319 ft) of water this month, with a possible well test to follow. Operations should be completed within 65 days.
