BERGEN, Norway – Scantrol has won an order to supply an active heave compensation (AHC) control system to Soil Machine Dynamics (SMD).
This will be integrated into an SMD-designed 6,000-m (19,685-ft) umbilical winch system and deployed on board a new vessel owned by Shanghai Salvage, a state-owned Chinese specialist in offshore installation, offshore structure decommissioning, IMR, platform supply, and diving.
Last September the company contracted SMD to supply a Quasar MKII 6,000-m ROV which is scheduled for delivery soon.
This will include a suite of equipment suitable for both oil and gas and deep-sea salvage operations. Scantrol, which has worked previously with SMD to supply AHC controls for its ROV handling systems, is partner for the project.
