SINGAPORE – ABB has installed a prefabricated solution kit for the electrical system for an FPSO under construction by MODEC for Petrobras.

TheCidade de Campos dos Goytacazes MV29 will be deployed at the deepwater Tartaruga Verde and Tartaruga Mestiça fields, 112 km (70 mi) offshore Macaé, Rio de Janeiro state.

This is the 11th FPSOMODEC has worked on for fields off Brazil, and the ninth the contractor will operate on Petrobras’ behalf. It is also the ninth collaboration between ABB and MODEC.

When operational toward the end of 2017, the vessel will be capable of processing 150,000 b/d of crude oil, compressing 176 MMcf/d of gas, and storing around 1.6 MMbbl. It will also be able to inject 200,000 b/d of water into the reservoirs.

All of these operations will be powered by ABB’s electrical system, supplied in the form of E-house, a modular structure that arrived on site with medium and low-voltage switchgear and transformers already installed.

ABB fulfilled Brazilian local content requirements and added that it fabricated and integrated the module in China within a tight schedule.

The completed module, weighing almost 1,000 tons, is equipped with lighting, heat tracing, fire suppression, and heating and ventilation systems.

Petrobras will charter the FPSO for 20 years. It will be moored in 765 m (2,510 ft) of water depth and will be capable of accommodating up to 62 risers and umbilicals.
