PSA gives go-ahead for new well on Snøhvit

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has authorized use of the semisubmersible Scarabeo 5 to drill and complete well 7121/4-G-4 H on the Snøhvit field.

OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has authorized use of the semisubmersible Scarabeo 5 to drill and complete well 7121/4-G-4 H on the Snøhvit field.

Statoil operates the field in the Barents Sea in the central part of the Hammerfest basin, in 310-340 m (1,017-1,115 ft) of water. Snøhvit is a gas field with condensate and an underlying thin oil zone.

The approved plan for development and operation for the gas resources includes subsea templates for 19 production wells and one injection well for associated carbon dioxide.
