SINGAPORE – KrisEnergy has proven more oil and gas with its latest appraisal well on the Rossukon discovery in the Gulf of Thailand.

The jackupKey Gibraltar drilled Rossukon-3 in 208 ft (63 m) of water in the G6/48 concession, soon after its successful evaluation of the Rossukon-2 and side track wells in March.

Rossukon-3 was drilled to a TD of 7,497 ft (2,285 m) MD. Logs suggest the well intersected around 75 ft (23 m) of net oil-bearing sandstones and 49 ft (15 m) of net gas-bearing sandstones over various reservoir intervals.

The location is 1.9 km (1.2 mi) west of Rossukon-2 and 1.8 km (1.12 mi) northwest of the Rossukon-1 discovery well, drilled in 2009.

Following plug-back operations the partners have agreed to immediately spud the Rossukon-3ST side track, to a planned TD of 6,689 ft (2,039 m) and at maximum deviation of 74°.

Chris Gibson-Robinson, director Exploration & Production, said: “The three wells drilled so far in this campaign…will increase the contingent resources in G6/48. Once Rossukon-3ST is completed, we will undertake a thorough technical review incorporating data from all the Rossukon wells, and the existing seismic data, to more fully assess the potential for commercial development in the future.”
