SINGAPORE –KrisEnergy announced that the Key Gibraltar jackup has commenced drilling the Rossukon-2 exploratory well in G6/48 in the Gulf of Thailand. Rossukon is an oil accumulation that was discovered in 2009.

Rossukon-2 is located .62 mi (1 km) northeast of the Rossukon-1 discovery well, which is the first well to be drilled in thecompany’s drilling campaign. The well is expected to reach total depth of 5,462 ft (1,665 m) measured depth (4,925 ft total vertical depth subsea) and will test early Mioecene stacked fluvial sandstones on a broad structural high.

The well will also appraise the discovery well’s reservoir, which tested 850 b/d at the time. It is designed to identify additional volumes of oil that could move the discovery closer to commercial development.

Water depth at the appraisal well location is 210 ft (64 m).

G6/48 spans 566 sq km (219 sq mi) over the Karawake basin and lies to the north of the G10/48 license, where the company is developing the Wassana oil field. The license is operated by KrisEnergy (30%) and is partnered with Northern Gulf Petroleum (40%) and Mubadala Petroleum (30%).

TheKey Gibraltar jackup is contracted by KrisEnergy for a firm six months for its Thai drilling program, which includes Rossukon-2 in G6/48 and 15 development wells in the Wassana oil field.
