Exploration drilling resumes on Rossukon offshore Thailand

SINGAPORE – The jackup rigKey Gibraltar has spudded the Rossukon-3 exploration well in G6/48 in the Gulf of Thailand for operator KrisEnergy.

This is the third well on the concession this year followingRossukon-2 and Rossukon-2ST, both drilled in March.

Rossukon-3 is being drilled in 208 ft (63 m) of water, 1.9 km (1.2 mi) west of the Rossukon-2 surface location and a similar distance northwest of the original Rossukon-1 discovery well, drilled in 2009. Planned TD is 7,468 ft (2,276 m). The goal is to test early Miocene fluvial sandstones on a broad structural high.

G6/48 is in the Karawake basin, north of the G10/48 license in which KrisEnergy is developing theWassana oil field. KrisEnergy took over operatorship of G6/48 in May 2014. Other partners are Northern Gulf Petroleum and Mubadala Petroleum.
