SINGAPORE– Kris Energy has discovered gas in the Tayum prospect offshore Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The jackupRandolph Yost drilled the Tayum-1 well in the Kutai production-sharing contract in the Makassar Strait, 8 km (4.9 mi) east-southeast of the Dambus-1 gas indication well.

Well log analysis suggests the well encountered around 49 vertical ft (15 m) of net gas pay from multiple sandstone intervals within the Miocene to Pliocene section, from which two gas samples were recovered.

Two further gas samples were recovered from what are thought to be shaly-sand gas pay intervals.

The well has been P&A’d. Kris Energy will evaluate the results along with data from two previous gas discoveries.

Partners are Salamander Energy and Orchid Kutai.
