TRONDHEIM, NorwayAptomar has entered into a service agreement with O.M. Rønning Skipselektronikk to further enhance oil spill detection and combating capabilities at Eni Norge’s Goliat field in the Barents Sea.

Under the contract, O.M. Rønning Skipselektronikk will provide services and support for the systems and products that Aptomar uses at the Goliat field. The contract is also valid for other Aptomar-systems, both in Norway and internationally.

Goliat is the first floating production field development in the harsh environments of the Barents Sea. In response to this, Aptomar and Eni Norge have created a holistic emergency response management system, focusing on rapid detection and controlled combating of a spill, in addition to protecting the safety and integrity of both personnel and assets onboard and around the FPSO.

Aptomar’s field monitoring system on the Goliat field allows 360° surveillance coverage from the FPSO hull outward, plus the ability to detect small and large oil spills independent of light, wind and weather conditions, and estimates the relative thickness of a spill and where it is drifting.
