ANTWERP, BelgiumEXMAR has ordered a second floating LNG (FLNG) liquefaction vessel from Wison Offshore & Marine.

Wison will be responsible for turnkey engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation, and commissioning of the self-contained barge which will have a liquefaction capacity of 0.6 million tons/yr and 20,000 cu m (706,293 cu ft) of LNG storage.

As with its predecessorCaribbean FLNG, it will be built at Wison’s shipyard in Nantong, China. Additionally, EXMAR has secured firm options for two more FLNG vessels.

The new vessel is expected to be completed in 2017. EXMAR says the concept allows faster monetization of existing gas reserves.

CEO Nicolas Saverys said: “It is clear that lower oil and gas prices will continue to boost demand for cost-efficient and fasttrack FLNG solutions over land-based liquefaction terminals. We continue to see strong growth in theFLNG market.

“Thanks to our first-mover advantage we are actively working on seven FLNG projects around the world.”

Caribbean FLNG is due to start operating offshore Colombia in the second half of 2015.
