KrisEnergy starts commitment well offshore Thailand

Seadrill’s jackup West Cressida has spudded the Mancharee-1 exploration commitment well for KrisEnergy in block G10/48 in the southern Pattani basin in the Gulf of Thailand.

SINGAPORE – Seadrill’s jackup West Cressida has spudded the Mancharee-1 exploration commitment well for KrisEnergy in block G10/48 in the southern Pattani basin in the Gulf of Thailand.

Water depth is 170 ft (51.8 m). The well will be drilled to a TD of 12,420 ft (3,785 m) MD and will evaluate stacked sandstone reservoirs of Miocene and Oligocene age.

Mancharee-1 is west of the Mayura oil discovery, which according toKrisEnergy requires further appraisal.

The same block also contains the Niramai oil accumulation, just north of the company’sWassana field development, where the company aims to achieve first oil during 2Q 2015.
