STRAUME, Norway – Offshore technology provider AGR Enhanced Drilling has announced it is changing its name, as of April 4, to Enhanced Drilling.

The move comes after last year's legal demerger fromAGR Group. At that time, the website enhanced-drilling.com was established with its focus on the solutions and services for which the Norwegian-based Enhanced Drilling is known: its riserless mud recovery system, managed pressure cementing, cuttings transportation system, and EC-Drill managed pressure drilling.

Enhanced Drilling CEO David Hine said, "As a natural follow-on from the demerger from AGR Group, as announced last August, we will hereafter assume the branded name Enhanced Drilling. It’s the next logical step as a stand-alone business."

Enhanced Drilling is currently conducting the pilot phase for the next-generation of its MPD system, EC-Drill. The pilot, in conjunction withStatoil, is being held on the Troll field on the Norwegian continental shelf. It is testing the latest version of the MPD system, to Statoil's exacting standards, which has been upgraded as part of the announcement in July last year of a NOK120 million ($20 million) development contract between the two companies as technology partners.

Following the successful completion of the Troll pilot, the same version of EC-Drill will be used by Statoil on a five-well deepwater project in theGulf of Mexico.
