LONDON – Mediterranean Oil and Gas (MOG) says preparations are under way for a seismic acquisition campaign in its acreage offshore Malta.

The company’s subsidiaryMelita Exploration Co. Ltd. has a 40% in Area 3 blocks 1, 2, and 3 in partnership with operator Capricorn Malta, which is owned by Cairn Energy.

They plan to acquire 1,500 km (932 mi) of broadband 2D seismic during 1H 2014.

In the Adriatic Sea offshore eastern Italy, two wells remain offline at the producingGuendalina field, which Eni operates in partnership with MOG.

Eni’s investigations of wells GUE 3ss and GUE 2ss suggest plugging of the well completion may have impacted production performance.

Late last year the company started remedial operations to restore production at GUE 3ss, and the intervention was completed successfully on Jan. 11. The well has since returned to low-rate production, and its operating condition is improving as the well cleans up.
