Marathon to drill new well on Vilje

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has sanctioned use of the semisubmersible Transocean Winner to drill a production well for Marathon Oil in the Norwegian central North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has sanctioned use of the semisubmersible Transocean Winner to drill a production well for Marathon Oil in the Norwegian central North Sea.

Work on the 25/4-F1onVilje Sør in license PL 036 is expected to start next month.

TheVilje oil field is just north of the Heimdal field in a water depth of 120 m (393 ft). It has been developed with two subsea wells connected to the Alvheim FPSO.
