VANCOUVER, CanadaTrillion Energy International expects to start its SASB gas field revitalization project in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea in mid-April, with all equipment now delivered.

The program includes perforating 49 m of new gas pay in the Guluc-2, South Akcakoca-2, West Akcakoca-1 and Akcakoca-3 wells prior to the installation of artificial gas lift.

Trillion has also modified its plan to predominantly install velocity strings for step one and a water pump later on to prevent future water loading. The velocity strings will allow threading of 2 3/8-inch production tubing inside the wells’ 4 ½-inch tubing.

According to Trillion’s recently appointed COO Al Thorsen, “Velocity strings are the best solution at this stage of the gas producing wells as [they] are cheap to install, relatively simple to operate, have no moving parts and are well suited to high gas-producing wells.

“These wells have large volumes of gas yet to produce and the velocity string is the first step; in the future, five to six years from now when the wells have most of the gas produced, at that time PCP pumps or ESPs will be installed to extend the gas producing life of the wells."

Installing velocity strings is less capital-intensive and quicker than installing PCPs, the company added.
