PARIS – Shell U.K. (NYSE:RDS.A) has awarded Technip (PARIS:TEC) an engineering, procurement, installation, and construction contract for the Gannet F reinstatement project in the UK central North Sea.
The project is located is 180 km (112 mi) east of Aberdeen, in a water depth of 95 m (311 ft).
Technip’s scope covers replacement of the Gannet F flowline at the Gannet Alpha platform following aconfirmed leak, and includes fabrication and offshore installation of an 11.8-km (7.3-mi) pipe-in-pipe; installation of a 4.5-in. gas lift pipeline; and trenching and installation of an 11.9-km (7.4-mi) umbilical.
Technip’s operating center in Aberdeen will manage the program, due to be completed this spring. The group’s spoolbase in Evanton, northern Scotland, will fabricate the pipe-in-pipe while DUCO in Newcastle, northeast England, will manufacture the umbilical. The pipelay vesselApache II will handle offshore installations.
