OSLO, Norway – DONG E&P Norway has authorization to drill an exploration well northwest of its Trym field in the southern Norwegian North Sea.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) approved use of theMærsk Giant for the 3/7-9 S well in production license 289. This will be the second well on the concession, which was awarded in 2003. The block borders the offshore median line with Denmark.
Lundin has approval from NPD for a wildcat in the southwestern Norwegian North Sea, using theMærsk Guardian. Well 7/4-3 will be the first drilled on PL 495, located between the Gaupe and Brynhild fields.
Elsewhere in the southern sector, Lundin is plugging a well on theOgna prospect in block 8/5 (PL453S). The primary reservoir, of Jurassic age, exhibited poor reservoir quality. The well encountered no hydrocarbons and is being P&A’d as a dry hole.
