COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- DONG Energy has brought on stream the Trym oil and gas field in the Norwegian North Sea.

This is the Danish company’s first operated production in the Norwegian sector, and this is also the first Norwegian field to be produced via Danish infrastructure.

Trym lies just north of the Danish/Norwegian offshore median line. It has been developed using subsea facilities, with two horizontal wells tied back to and controlled from the Mærsk-operated Harald platform in the Danish sector.

One of the wells is currently online, while the second producer will be drilled in the next few months. DONG Energy and partner Bayerngas committed DKK 2.4 billion ($433 million) in 2008 figures in the project.

Gas from the field will be transported from Harald via DONG Energy's pipeline to Maersk’s Tyra platform for onward delivery to Nybro in Denmark or Den Helder in the Netherlands. Oil and condensate is transported from Harald via the Gorm field to Fredericia in Denmark via another DONG Energy pipeline.

Trym has reserves estimated at 4.4 bcm (155 bcf) of gas and 1.1 MMcm (38.8 MMcf) of condensate. At peak, production will reach around 1.8 MMcm/d (63.5 MMcf/d) of gas and 1,000 cm/d (35,315 cf/d) of condensate.
