Lundin ups stake in Brynhild offshore Norway

Lundin Norway has completed a 20% acquisition in the Brynhild field in the Norwegian North Sea from Talisman Norge.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden --Lundin Norway has completed a 20% acquisition in the Brynhild field in the Norwegian North Sea from Talisman Norge.

It gives Lundin a 90%operating interest in the field, which is due onstream during Q4 2013. At peak Brynhild will produce 12,000 boe/d.

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has authorized Lundin to drill exploration well 8/5-1 in the southern Norwegian North Sea, using the jackupMærsk Guardian.

Drilling should start in January 2013, and will last for at least 54 days. This could double in the event of a discovery, in which case a production test will be performed.

The location is in license PL 453S, 165 km (102 mi) southwest of Egersund, in 72 m (236 ft) water depth.
