STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil (OSE:STL) has brought onstream Visund South, the first of its cluster of fasttrack subsea tiebacks offshore Norway.

Visund South comprises the Pan and Pandora discoveries, with reservoir pressure of 340 bar (4,931 psi), and combined oil and gas volumes estimated at 67 MMboe. They are located 10 km (6.2 mi) from both the Gullfaks C and Visund A platforms in the North Sea.

They are being developed via asubsea template and four wells, with the first three wells drilled and tied back to Gullfaks C for processing, and production sent through the Gullfaks C export system.

Tom Karsten Gustavsen, production vice president of operation for Visund, Kvitebjørn, and Grane, said production from Visund South would be significant for the Visund license.

Statoil estimates the cost of the project at roughly NOK 5.6 billion ($990 million). Visund South is expected to remain in production for more than 15 years.
