Offshore staff
STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil has approval from Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy for its Visund South development plan.
Production from the North Sea field should start in summer 2012. A subsea template is on its way to the offshore location, 10 km (6.2 mi) from the Visund A and Gullfaks C platforms.
The subsea development is base around the four-slot template. Three wells will be drilled and tied to Gullfaks C for processing.
Following installation of the template, drilling should get under way in August.
According to Statoil, the template is the first built as part of a “standard catalogue” for subsea equipment, which was compiled with the company’s suppliers for use in Statoil’s fasttrack Norwegian sector projects.
The field’s facilities will be installed in conjunction with the Marulk development, which Statoil is also handling on behalf of operator Eni.
Visund South comprises the Pan and Pandora structures, containing 67 MMboe (one-third oil and two-thirds gas). Its estimated producing life exceeds 15 years. Partners are Total, Petoro, and ConocoPhillips.
