STAVANGER, Norway -- The seabed template for Statoil’s Visund South subsea development is on its way to the Norwegian North Sea. Its final resting place will be a location south of the Gullfaks complex.

Manufacturer Grenland Group transferred the structure onto a barge at its yard in Tønsberg, Norway. It will be installed next month by Subsea 7 on the Visund South field, between the Gullfaks C and Visund platforms. Production should start next year.

Statoil says this is its first template built from a “standard catalogue’ for subsea equipment. It was delivered within a year of the subsea equipment award to FMC. Similar designs will feature in other Statoil-operated fasttrack subsea developments.
