Iraq to add fourth offshore crude loading system

Leighton Offshore has completed an operations and maintenance contract offshore Iraq for South Oil Co.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Leighton Offshore has completed an operations and maintenance contract offshore Iraq for South Oil Co.

Leighton installed offshore single-point mooring (SPM) systems and related pipelines for theIraq Crude Oil Export Expansion Project (ICOEEP). First oil was delivered earlier this year. The company has since been responsible for operating and maintaining the systems.

Full scope of work comprised SPM mooring operations, tanker hose connections, scheduled maintenance, engineering support, diving services, oil pollution emergency response, and training for South Oil Co. staff.

Since March, Leighton has loaded 78 tankers with nearly 144 MMbbl of oil with no safety or environmental incidents.

The company will start installing a fourth SPM system as part of the overall ICOEEP expansion in December.
