TGS begins 3D seismic sweep in UK far north

TGS (TGS:Oslo) has started to acquire 3,210-sq km (1,239-sq mi) of 3D multi-client seismic data over the Erlend basin, west of Shetland.

ASKER, Norway– TGS (TGS:Oslo) has started to acquire 3,210-sq km (1,239-sq mi) of 3D multi-client seismic data over the Erlend basin, west of Shetland.

This is the first such survey in the area, the company says. It covers open blocks offered under the UK’s 27th offshore licensing round.

TGS has chartered theM/V Polarcus Samur for the first phase of acquisition. The remainder will be completed later this year by the M/V Polar Duchess. Processed data should be available in 2Q 2013.
