SINGAPORE – Keppel FELS has a letter of intent from Floatel International to construct a new harsh environment accommodation semisubmersible, under a potential $315-million contract. Delivery is currently scheduled for July 2014.

If confirmed, this will be the fourth accommodation semisubmersible contracted by Floatel following Keppel FELS’ delivery ofFloatel Superior and Floatel Reliance in 2010, and the Floatel Victory, ordered in 2011.

The new semi will be based on the DSS 20NS design developed by GustoMSC and Keppel FELS’ Deepwater Technology Group. When completed, it will be able to accommodate 440 persons in single-bed cabins, and will provide support during new construction, maintenance activities, or for decommissioning projects of offshore oil and gas installations.

Floatel Reliance and Floatel Superior have been chartered to Petrobras in Brazil’s Campos basin and to Statoil in Norway’s Oseberg field, respectively.

Floatel Victory, scheduled for delivery early in 2014, has secured a charter with BP for the Clair Ridge development project West of Shetland on the UK continental shelf.
