ASTRAKHAN, Russia – Construction is under way on offshore oil and gas facilities for Lukoil’s V. Filanovsky field in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea.

Memorial tablets were fixed upon the base sections of a riser block (RB), living quarter module (LQM-1), and ice-resistant fixed platform No.1 (IRFP-1).

Krasnye Barrikady shipyard is building the riser block and LQM-1 living-quarter module; OAO `Obyedinyonnaya Sudostroitelnaya Korporatsiya’ will deliver the ice-resistant fixed drilling and production platform (IRFP-1); and OAO `Global-Engineering’ the central processing platform (CPP).

IRFP-1, which will weigh 15,200 tons, will be equipped to drill 11 deviated wells with horizontal borehole completions, and will have modules for gathering, measurement and delivery of well production to the CPP, and a power generation unit. Bridges will connect IRFP-1, LQM-1, and CPP.

CPP, weighing 21,000 tons, will process and send oil and associated gas to onshore facilities. Following treatment, reservoir water will be reinjected into the formation. Oil will be treated at two processing trains, each with a capacity of 3 Mmt/yr.

RB will be used to connect infield and export pipelines for transportation of oil from the V. Filanovsky and Y. Korchagin fields to onshore facilities. LQM-1 will accommodate 125 personnel, and will be equipped with a helipad.

Lukoil discovered V. Filanovsky field in 2005. It estimates recoverable reserves at 153.1 MMtons of oil and 32.2 bcm of gas. Oil production should start in 2015.
