STAVANGER, Norway –Norwegian Energy Co. (Noreco) has started drilling exploration well Luna-1X in license 1/11 in the Danish North Sea.
The MaerskResolve rig is drilling the well 150 km (93 mi) northwest of Esbjerg. Noreco’s partners are Elko Energy and the Danish North Sea Fund.
In the northern part of the Utsira High area of the Norwegian North Sea, Noreco has drilled a dry hole on theKalvklumpen prospect in license PL414.
The well spud on Jan. 10 and reached TD of 2,738 m (8,983 ft) within the Dunlin formation. According to partner Faroe Petroleum, it was targeting hydrocarbons in sandstones of the Palaeocene Hermod formation and the Jurassic Brent group.
Faroe says data from the well will be used to de-risk other prospects in this area where the company’s interests including licenses PL627 Shango, PL414B Oksen, and PL507 Tetrao/Knorke.
