SALISBURY, UK – The semisubmersible Ocean Guardian is drilling Rockhopper Exploration’s latest appraisal well on the Sea Lion discovery in the North Falkland basin.

Exploration well 14/10-8 is being drilled on license PL032, 4.1 km (2.5 mi) south-southeast of the 14/10-2 discovery well, outside of the Sea Lion discovery area.

The well will investigate reservoir and hydrocarbon presence within the Sea Lion Main Complex in an area of relatively low amplitudes, and also will serve as an exploration well on the Casper and Kermit oil prospects.

Drilling should take around 28 days to complete.

Rockhopper is in talks with the rig owner Diamond Offshore concerning assignment of a further drilling slot, which the company would have to commit to prior to spudding well 14/10-9.
