DUBLIN, Ireland – Partners in the offshore Tano 2A concession still await ratification from Ghana’s parliament.
Pan Andean Resources signed an agreement last year for the 1,532-sq km (591-sq mi) Tano 2A block, close to Tullow/Kosmos’ deepwater discoveries, with Ghana National Petroleum Co.
According to Petrel Resources – one of four companies with an ownership interest in Pan Andean – the target is to achieve a multibillion barrel discovery in the prolific Cretaceous geological structure.
While awaiting ratification, the partners have acquired, processed and analyzed 769 km (478 mi) of seismic, and studied five horizons at different depths, identifying numerous prospective areas.
Petrel has also applied for blocks in the offshore Porcupine basin under the current Irish offshore licensing round.
