Saipem assigned commissioning work for Sakarya FPU offshore Turkey
GOE Petrol Sanayi has contracted Saipem to perform commissioning services for the Osman Gazi Floating Production Unit, for the Phase 3 development of Turkish Petroleum’s Sakarya gas field in the Black Sea.
It follows an Operation Readiness & Assurance support services contract awarded to Saipem in April.
Sakarya is 170 km offshore in around 2,150 m of water. The commissioning program should take around eight months to complete.
Osman Gazi sailed from Singapore in July 2024, passing through the Çanakkale Strait two months later to reach İÇDAŞ Shipyard for maintenance.
Once in dry dock, the vessel underwent removals of modules removals, steel/plate renovation, deck reinforcement, and maintenance and repair of equipment, before departing in May 2025 for the port of Filyos.
The vessel, which is 298.5 m long, 56 m in breadth, and 29.5 m in depth, provides a gas processing capacity of 10.5 MMcm and a maximum gas transfer capacity of 10 MMcm.
According to Turkish Petroleum, it should double current gas production in the Black Sea to 20 MMcm.
