Kongsberg Maritime supplying station-keeping, propulsion equipment for newbuild Brazil shuttle tankers
Samsung Heavy Industries has contracted Kongsberg Maritime to provide equipment for nine new DP shuttle tankers under construction for Greek shipowner Tsakos Group.
All will go on a bare-boat charter to Brazilian energy logistics provider Transpetro, supporting offshore operations in Brazil’s presalt oil fields.
For each of the nine vessels, Kongsberg Maritime will supply a K-Pos DP2 system for station-keeping in dynamic offshore conditions; a K-IMS information management system and K-Chief integrated automation system, for centralized control and monitoring of vessel operations.
In addition, to support propulsion and power management, the vessels will feature an AutoChief 600 propulsion control system, with a K-Gauge (CLS) tank level gauging system for cargo monitoring. The supply scope also includes a single Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) shaftline with 8.6-m propeller.
The vessels are being built at Samsung’s shipyard in South Korea, with deliveries due to start in 2027.
