The Pioneering Spirit vessel has safely completed the final heavy lifts of Aker BP’s original Valhall Field.
Allseas’ Pioneering Spirit vessel completed the final heavy-lift removals in late June for Aker BP for the original Valhall Field center in the southern Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
Allseas’ team employed a specially designed "fishing rod" to hook conductor sections 28 m underwater using repurposed pipelay strakes; the goal was to achieve the single-lift execution in rough weather conditions.
Several pipeline installation projects have been completed around the world in first-half 2025.

Farther north, the company also just finished pipelay duties for the Aker BP-operated Yggdrasil development in the Norwegian North Sea, with the Solitaire vessel installing 122 km of offshore oil and gas export pipelines.
According to Allseas, the vessel performed the full scope on its own, from touchdown monitoring to tight "snake curves," installing an in-line tee at the edge of the vessel’s tensioner geometric limits and laying more than 86,000 mt of steel and concrete on the seabed.
The Oceanic vessel provided support in the form of pipe supply logistics from shore, and Lorelay will perform as-laid survey scopes later this summer.
