ScanReach has extended the application of its wireless Connect POB (personnel on board) service to offshore accommodation vessels and barges.

ScanReach has extended the application of its wireless Connect POB (personnel on board) service to offshore accommodation vessels and barges.

ConnectPOB, now tailored to the needs of operators in this sector, is said to provide real-time insights into personnel movement, occupancy and safety compliance on accommodation vessels.

It allows users to optimize their workflows, reduce their operational risks and help strengthen crew safety, the company added.

Features include real-time location management to support emergency situations and real-time monitoring of mustering stations to improve efficiency, accuracy and safety.

ScanReach claims the service also provides greater visibility on occupancy levels, helping operators make best use of available space.

The service is designed to integrate with vessels’ existing crew management software without disrupting operations. All network components are fully EX certified.

In addition, ScanReach’s Onboard Wireless Communication (OWC) acts as an industry-grade IoT network, enabling the monitoring of devices and environmental data in addition to personnel onboard.

On Nov. 8, the company announced its OWC technology was featured in the latest video by the Green AI for Sustainable Shipping (GASS) project aboard the Star Kinn vessel. ScanReach's wireless system played a key role in advancing efficiency and sustainability in the company's maritime operations.
