BEILEN, the Netherlands — Venterra Group company CAPE Holland will supply a CAPE VLT-640 Quad lifting equipment spread to Van Oord’s new installation vessel Boreas.

The equipment will support development of the Hollandse Kust West wind farm in the Dutch North Sea owned by Ecowende, the joint venture between Shell, Eneco and Chubu.

The 760-MW Hollandse Kust (West) plot VI development will be about 53 km from the Dutch coast.

Use of CAPE Vibro lifting technology should reduce piling noise compared to traditional hammer installations. The CAPE VLT system will drive the monopiles, with a diameter up to 9.3 m and weighing nearly 1,500 t, to final penetration where possible, or finished using an impact hammer.

Boreas’s 3,000-t crane will be used to install the monopiles.
