Offshore staff
OSLO, Norway – TMC Compressors of the Seas (TMC) will supply five marine compressors to a floating storage regasifaction unit (FSRU) under construction for Swan Energy.
Three service and control air compressors will head directly to the vessel builder Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea, and TMC will provide a subcontractor with two feed air compressors for a nitrogen system for the FSRU.
“I believe this confirms that shipyards and subcontractors to the big yards are increasingly moving away from marinized land-based compressors and instead opt for compressed air systems that have been designed and developed solely for offshore and marine applications,” said Hans Petter Tanum, TMC’s director of sales and business development.
The FSRU will have a storage capacity of 180,000 cu m (6.36 MMcf) and a gas send-out rate of 1,000 MMcf/d.
It will operate at Swan Energy’s LNG import terminal in Jafrabad, Gujarat, India, and will be moored to a fixed jetty, regasifying imported LNG for distribution via a pipeline grid and road tanker.
The terminal will be able to handle 5 MMt/yr of LNG.
