LEIDEN, the Netherlands -- In early February, the deepwater construction vessel (DCV) Balder restarted work in the Gulf of Mexico. The Balder, one of three crane vessel in the Heerema Marine Contractors fleet, left its repair position at Ewing Bank en route to its destination in the GoM.
TheBalder had been out of service since Dec. 27, 2006, when the vessel was flooded. Repair work on the two damaged thrusters began immediately after the incident.
No personal or environmental harm occurred in the incident, Heerema says.
