Offshore staff
HOUSTON -- Bisso Marine has salvaged a 200 Class lift boat that sank earlier in the year 45 mi (km) offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.
While on the seabed, the lift boat rested on its starboard side perpendicular to the seafloor and settled to approximately 15 ft (4.6 m) below natural bottom. Bisso Marine used the 700-ton capacity D/BCappy Bisso to lift the 670-ton lift boat from a water depth of 110 ft (33.5 m).
In advance of the D/BCappy Bisso's arrival, the D/B Boaz removed the upper leg sections and pre-rigged the lift boat with three custom designed 500-ton-capacity toggles.
Once the D/BCappy Bisso was supporting the weight of the lift boat, divers cut the lower leg sections below the hull. The vessel lifted the lift boat to the surface where it was refloated, after which, the lift boat and its components were delivered to a shipyard for repair.
