COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- Mærsk Contractors has sold jackup rigs Mærsk Exerter, Mærsk Enhancer, and Mærsk Endeavour to Northern Offshore Ltd.

Mærsk will continue to operate the rigs on behalf of the new owners until the existing contracts with Mærsk Olie og Gas expire in 2008 and 2009.

The crews will remain onboard the rigs until Mærsk's involvement comes to an end, the company says, after which, crews will be transferred to other units in its fleet. Mærsk has eight rigs under construction for delivery between 2007 and 2010, several of which are expected to be work in the North Sea.

Mærsk Exerter, Mærsk Enhancer, and Mærsk Endeavour are all jackup rigs that were built in 1982.
