NEW YORK -- Hess Corp. has signed a five-year contract with Stena Drilling for the Stena DrillMAX III drillship. The contract begins in the middle of 2009.

"This agreement offers us a high-specification rig in the time frame we desire and will give us the speed and flexibility we need to maximize our global exploration and development activities," says John J. O'Connor, president, worldwide exploration and production at Hess.

TheStena DrillMAX III can drill in 7,500 ft (2,286 m) water depth.
