Another pipe tensioning system for China

SAS Gouda BV has secured another contract for a new pipelay/crane vessel to be owned and operated by China Offshore Oil Engineering Co. of the People's Republic of China.

GOUDA, the Netherlands -- SAS Gouda BV has secured another contract for a new pipelay/crane vessel to be owned and operated by China Offshore Oil Engineering Co. of the People's Republic of China.

SAS will design, manufacture, and supply a complete pipe tensioning system, consisting of two 200-metric-ton (220.5-ton) pipe tensioners, a 400-metric-ton (441-ton) traction winch with storage reel and sheaves, power units, and controls.

The tensioners will be a vertical design and capable of laying bare pipe, concrete coated pipe, and other types of coated pipe, SAS Gouda says.

The equipment is scheduled for delivery to China in mid-2009.

COOEC is a subsidiary of China's top offshore oil and gas producer China National Offshore Oil Corp.
