LONDON --Hallin Marine has contracted Drydocks World Singapore for a newbuild subsea operations vessel. The same shipyard is handling construction of another subsea support vessel, the Ullswater, which Hallin has chartered for 10 years.

The new vessel, namedWindermere, will be 80 m (262 ft) long, with a 20 m (65.6 ft) beam. It will be equipped with a 50 metric ton (55 ton) active heave-compensated, knuckleboom subsea crane, providing lift capacity at 12.5 m (41 ft) radius in water depths of up to 1,500 m (4,921 ft).

Voith Schneider stern thrusters will assist maneuvers via the vessel's DP-2 dynamic positioning system. Hallin will additionally install a saturation diving spread, and estimates the total cost of the finished vessel at $49.6 million.
