Global charters deepwater construction vessel

Global Industries Ltd. has signed a long-term charter with Olympic Shipping AS for a newbuild DP-2 multi-service, diving, ROV, and deepwater construction vessel.

CARLYSS, Louisiana –Global Industries Ltd. has signed a long-term charter with Olympic Shipping AS for a newbuild DP-2 multi-service, diving, ROV, and deepwater construction vessel.

Scheduled to be completed in early 2008, the vessel is 347 ft (106 m) long by 69 ft (21 m) wide. In addition to SURF capabilities, Global says the vessel can be used for subsea installation, marine construction, and ROV and diving support.

With space for 100 crew, the vessel will have two moon pools, 1,000 sq m (10,764 sq ft) of clear deck, and a 250-ton, heave-compensated crane good to 10,000 ft (3,000 m) water depths. There is to be an interchangeable, modular 60-ton vertical tensioner and reeling system. The ROV hanger will accompany an ODIM launch and recovery system.
