Hornbeck Offshore closes Sea Mar fleet acquisition

COVINGTON, Louisiana -- On Aug. 8, Hornbeck Offshore Services Inc. completed its previously announced acquisition of 20 offshore supply vessels and their related business, the Sea Mar fleet, from affiliates of Nabors Industries Ltd. The Sea Mar fleet comprises 10 200-class DP-1 new generation offshore supply vessels (OSVs) and 10 conventional OSVs.

The company also acquired one 285-foot DP-2 new generation OSV currently under construction at a domestic shipyard with an anticipated 4Q 2008 delivery.

Except for one of the conventional OSVs, all of the vessels acquired by Hornbeck Offshore are US flagged and qualify for US coastwise trade under the Jones Act. In addition, Hornbeck Offshore now manages five Nabors-owned Mexican flagged vessels that are working offshore Mexico.
