SINGAPORE-- Indonesia's Apexindo Pratama Duta Tbk. plans to build or acquire one more jackup by next year or early 2009 as part of its fleeting building exercise, says Hertriono Kartowisastro, president director.

Speaking to reporters during the christening of its latest jackup, Kartowisastro points to drilling demand in Indonesia, citing the government's call to the local industry to increase oil and gas production by 30%.

Apexindo built the $150-million rig at Singapore's PPL Shipyard to the latter's proprietary design, the Baker Marine Pacific 375 Class, which is capable of drilling high pressure and high temperature wells to a depth of 9,144 m (30,000 ft) in 114 m (375 ft) water depth.

The newSoehanah jackup already has signed a two-year contract with a one-year option, worth $170 million with Total E&P Indonesie. The jackup will drill for gas in the Sisi and Nubi fields, off Indonesia's East Kalimantan province.

TheSoehanah is the company's fifth jackup, says Kartowisastro.
