HOUSTON-- Pride International is expected to take delivery of the drillship Deep Ocean Ascension later this month. The vessel is the first of four new deepwater drillships under construction by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. The rig is scheduled to begin drilling operations in US Gulf of Mexico in the third quarter under a five-year contract with BP.
The next Pride drillship, the Deep Ocean Clarion, is scheduled for completion in August, followed by the Deep Ocean Mendocino in 1Q 2011, and the Deep Ocean Molokai in 4Q 2011.
